Brewster is an historic "Sea Captain’s Town" on the bay side of Cape Cod. It was incorporated in 1803 and was named after Elder William Brewster, one of the pilgrims that came over on the Mayflower. Many of the captain’s home still remain along 6A and are now used as antique shops and restaurants.
Brewster has 8 miles of beaches along Cape Cod Bay. At low tide, the water recedes about a mile and exposes the Brewster Flats. This provides miles of walking, exploring, and tidal pools for playing and splashing. Any of the beaches in Brewster are a great place to watch the sunset across Cape Cod Bay.
Brewster has retained most of its rural character over the years. The Brewster General Store is still the focal point of the community. Nickerson State Park (1600+ acres)and the Punkhorn Parklands (800+Acres) provide miles of hiking trails and scenic beauty. Twenty five fresh water ponds provide a refreshing alternative to wash off the salt after a long day at the beach.
